Gelina Harlaftis is Director of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of the Foundation of Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) since 2017 and member of the Academia Europaea since 2022. She has graduated from the University of Athens and has completed her graduate studies in the Universities of Cambridge (M.Phil.) and Oxford (D.Phil.). Read More

Apostolos Delis born in Volos-Greece in 1971. He studied Ancient History in the Universities of Siena and Bologna and Maritime Archaeology and History in the University of Bristol. He completed his PhD thesis in 2010 in the Ionian University with subject: “Hermoupolis (Syros): the shipbuilding centre of the sailing merchant marine, 1830-80”. Read More

Nikos Alevyzakis is a historian with interests in the history of fisheries, in human intervention in the marine environment and in legal regulation of fishing, within the history of the Sea and along social and economic history and local history. His ph.D. thesis titled “The marine fishery from the establishment of the Greek state to 1910” and supervised by Gelina Harlaftis is now under publication with Crete University Press, forthcoming in 2026.
